Favorite Music Update (2009-06-29)

It’s been a while since I last did this. The previous one was posted back in January. That means I’ve got loads of favorite songs to share but I’ve decided to narrow it down to just five for brevity’s sake. One is a current pop song; another one’s from an anime; one’s an 80’s dance hit and two are Christian songs. Clips are included so you’d know what they sound like.

Jordin Sparks and Ryan Tedder – Battlefield

Jordin Sparks and Ryan Tedder I’ve been crazy about this song ever since it leaked last month. I first heard Jordin’s version and instantly loved it. Later, Ryan Tedder’s demo of the song leaked and I didn’t like it at first but now I’m equally in love with both versions. Jordin’s powerful vocals suits the song very well but Ryan’s raw voice also lends the song a very unique feel. There are even times when I prefer Ryan’s singing here. But one thing’s for sure, this is gonna be a hit for the next couple of months.

The song has also been given the remix treatment by Bimbo Jones which I think is just amazing and perfectly complements the original version.

JAG-TOY – Tomodachi ni Modorenai

timequest_edSay what? It’s an anime song obviously. More specifically, it’s the ending song of the 90’s anime Time Travel Tondekeman or Time Quest as it was more popularly known here in the Philippines.

I spotted this song while browsing YouTube for old school animes. I dug through my other laptop’s files and found an mp3 I downloaded back in July 2005. After listening to it for the first time in 4 years, I got a rush of childhood memories of me watching the show as a kid. I was probably no older than 9 years old back then.

I really liked Time Quest and this song is just so good I’m sure I’ll never get tired of it… ever!

Milli Vanilli – Girl You Know It’s True

This is such an old song but I’m certain that most people my age would still remember it. I only became a fan of this song recently although I do remember hearing it when I was younger. So I wasn’t really aware of the controversy surrounding the song until I read it in Wikipedia. I prefer the Super Club Mix so here’s the extra long version of its conspicuously 80’s video. Hit it! :P

After that disco hit, let’s move on to Christian songs. Nice transition, huh? That just goes to show how diverse my taste in music is.

Bukas Palad – Prayer of Rupert Mayer

Ever since I started listening to this group last year, I’ve been more aware of other Christian music. This song has been a favorite of mine since I bought their album. It’s just now that I really took notice of it because the other more popular songs overshadowed it. I love the words of this song as much as I love the message of the next song in this list.

Lord, what You will let it be so
Where You will there we will go
What is Your will help us to know
Lord, when You will the time is right
In You there’s joy in strife
For Your will I’ll give my life
To ease Your burden brings no pain
To forego all for You is gain
As long as I in You remain
REFRAIN:
Because You will it, it is best
Because You will it, we are blest
Till in Your hands our hearts find rest
Till in Your hands our hearts find rest

Lord I Offer My Life To You

I honestly don’t have any idea who really are the singers in this song. I’ve scoured the net for any definite information regarding this. Some say it’s Hillsong but I kind of doubt it. So if anyone knows exactly who the artist(s) is/are then please sound off in the comments. As it stands unresolved, I’m scrobbling the song with Hillsong as the artist. Here’s an absolutely nice video of the song with lyrics.

That’s it. The next update will most likely be posted after a month or so. But who knows? ^_^

  1. This is definitely not Hillsong.

    • Yeah… I don’t really think it is. I remember googling something about this song being a cut from an “Avalon” cd. Dunno what that is though.
