Oh my.. oh my.. OMG! I seriously can’t get over this freakin’ epic teaser for the first Avatar movie! Avatar – The Last Airbender that is. Not the James Cameron Avatar which no doubt will also be epic.
Words cannot describe how much I’m stoked after seeing this really short clip! The last time I felt this way was when I first saw the first trailer for Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.
Aang looks okay to me here. I’m not gonna pass judgment on Noah Ringer until I see more of him on this film. But I really liked his moves here. I hope they would try to be faithful to the fighting styles shown in the series.
About the airbending, it felt weird seeing it in live action but I know I’ll get used to it and I think it actually looks good.
Aang then shoots out this huge gust of wind with the camera panning out to show Fire Navy ships shooting fireballs on the cliff! Wait… cliff? Where the hell is this anyway?
After seeing the ships, I thought it was during the Northern Water Tribe battle but then why is there virtually no snow in that scene? Most likely, this isn’t really a scene in the movie but was just made specially for the teaser.
But let me just take this moment to tell you this: the Fire Navy ships are just so uber-wicked cool! A few seconds into the trailer I thought everything was okay up until the moment they showed the ships and fireballs! I was ready to pass out from excitement!
And then we see the official logo of the movie which is sad because they can’t use the title Avatar. I think the animated series logo is amazing and it would have been nice to see something resembling that on the big screen. Unlike that one, this new logo mainly gives the feeling of a dark and serious movie. But I think it was also clever of them to include the symbols of each nation. It just adds more to the pure awesomeness of this teaser in my opinion. =)
Final thoughts…
Compared to most teaser trailers that come out, this one is really good and looks like a very promising film. I really hope that M. Night does the series justice. The trailer gave a different kind of feeling to me when compared to the series. The TV show was funny and adventurous so I wish they won’t take things too seriously on this film.
I know that many fans are outraged by the casting and I was one of them too before but I’ve come to accept the casting decisions and decided to keep an open mind on this film. All of us fans want this film to kick Eclipse’s butt next year so let’s just all get along and support it okay. *wink*
To everyone behind the Avatar film (yes I will still call it Avatar!), good job on the teaser! But please, don’t disappoint us! ^_^
