“Harry Potter 6” tickets and schedule – IMAX Mall of Asia and SM North Edsa!

Harry Potter 6 IMAX poster

HP 6 is already in cinemas! This post will not be updated of new schedules and was only for the pre-release period which is now over.

Please check out my new posts instead:
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince – Movie Review
SM North Edsa IMAX Theatre – My Early Thoughts

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince will premiere in Philippine theaters on July 16, 2009 (Thursday). Unlike in the U.S., both SM IMAX theaters (MOA and SM North) will premiere the Harry Potter film the same day as regular 35mm theaters will. The movie’s opening sequence, approximately 12 minutes, has been converted to IMAX 3D format. The total running time of the film is 2 hours and 44 minutes.

For ticket reservations:

SM North Edsa IMAX
You can no longer reserve HP6 tickets by phone. Just head on to the Harry Potter booth in front of Cinema 6 and you will be assisted in choosing a seat and paying for the ticket by one of their personnel. The booth is located near the bridge connecting The Block and the City Center/main building.
Contact numbers in case you have questions: 929-5452 / 929-4274 / 442-0061

SM Mall of Asia IMAX
556-IMAX (4629) / 556-0242 / 923-5572 / 923-5573
smoaimax@smsupermalls.com

Ticket price is 400.00 pesos. This is IMAX so remember that it’s best not to get a seat near the front rows! Mall of Asia’s IMAX has rows from A to P while SM North only has up to row O. My seats are in the M row at SM North Edsa. ^_^

Here are the “tentative” schedules of the two IMAX theaters during the first week of Half-Blood Prince’s screening. It’s interesting to note that they have already removed Transformers 2 after what? Just 3 weeks? Click for larger image.

moa hp6 imax schedule
SM Mall of Asia IMAX schedule from July 16 – July 22

sm north hp6 imax schedule
SM North Edsa IMAX schedule from July 16 (Thursday) to July 19 (Sunday)
First screening is 10:25 AM – Last screening is 11:45 PM

This will be the first movie of SM North Edsa’s IMAX theater. Currently, Ayala’s Trinoma mall is the highest grosser of box-office movies in the country. (Some time ago, SM North Edsa used to hold that record.) But by opening a new IMAX theater, SM could pose some tough competition to Ayala’s front-running theaters.

I’m a bit wary however on how this new IMAX will compare to the one in Mall of Asia. Compared to MOA’s 600-seat IMAX theater, SM North’s would most likely seat only around 400 people. The old Cinema 12 of SM North cannot possibly house a traditional IMAX screen so this one would be a few meters less tall than the one in MOA. Also, unlike the one in MOA which uses film reels, SM North’s IMAX will have its movies saved on a hard disk. Not that we actually care about that!

The screen size difference though has sparked some controversy in the U.S. In all honestly, I could hardly care less about the size as long as the experience is not sacrificed and the price is still worth it. I’d really like to see SM North’s IMAX become a success so I won’t have to go all the way to the south for an IMAX experience. (I live practically right behind SM North so that’s why!)

My Harry Potter 6 IMAX ticket!
I got tickets for the first screening! Yay! xD

Credits: IMAX, PEx and CebuDaily

P.S. I’m a Harry Potter fan so this is the only IMAX movie that will get coverage here. :P
P.P.S. This movie’s gonna rock my socks off!

  2. It should be priced around 400 pesos since it’s a main feature film. Sorry I can’t be sure because I have no plans of watching it there. Saving up for AVATAR. :D

Mukhang matagal pa bago makanood ulit ako sa IMAX. Piling-pili lang na movies ang pinapanood ko dun. This year, Star Trek and Harry Potter pa lang. I’m probably going to see A Christmas Carol and Avatar on IMAX later this year. :D

And I’m sorry to hear about your unreliable workmates. Better be sure that they are really coming with you next time because these tickets are not that cheap.

  14. 12 minutes of it. If this is your first time watching IMAX, then you will be disappointed. All the past blockbuster films shown in IMAX 3D only have a few minutes of 3D scenes.

  27. The same exact movie shown in MOA will be shown in SM North. The 3D scenes are only the first few minutes of the movie. You don’t need to reserve but I advise you do. You can just go there to buy the tickets in advance. :)

  32. Yup. The rest are not 3D. You only wear the glasses during the 3D scenes.

Today’s the day! 3 hours left before my screening! Gaaah!!!

  34. HP 6 in IMAX has approximately 12 minutes of 3D. This is during the start of the film where the bridge collapses! :o

I passed by SM North a while ago and saw their IMAX theater. The glass doors are still covered so I could’nt see what’s inside. The waiting area looks big though. I think the press/media was there this morning.

    Patrick on July 15th, 2009 at 9:19 pm #
  35. tenks for ur answer! :D .do u know how long ung nka 3D format?
    tenks agen!

  36. Thanks for the clarifications mandy. My cousin told me that she saw Ice Age 3D at SM North but not in D-Cinema. I couldn’t believe her and I thought she was just joking. :D

    Patrick on July 15th, 2009 at 4:41 pm #
  37. My brother asked and they told him they will show HP 6 in 3D also on D-Cinema. Dunno if the 3D scene will be the same as the one in IMAX which is during the collapse of the Millennium bridge.

I just passed by The Block a while ago and asked them again. They will show HP in D-Cinema but there’ll be NO 3D scenes. Sorry about that.

    Patrick on July 15th, 2009 at 4:38 pm #
  38. will they show HP6 in 3d in D-cinema?

    Untonee on July 15th, 2009 at 12:14 am #
  39. There are two digital cinemas in SM North EDSA. Cinema 1 & 7. Cinema 7 shows the 3D “Ice Age 3″. As for “My Bloody Valentine”, MTRCB gave it a rating of PG-13, with cuts. Since they have no capability to cut a digital film, the 3D version was not released here.

    mandy on July 14th, 2009 at 11:36 pm #
  40. Of course you can. As long as there are seats available they will still accept reservations.

    Patrick on July 14th, 2009 at 8:05 pm #
  41. D-Cinema is a digital theater. The movie there is clearer than your typical SM cinema. They can also show movies in digital 3D format.

    Patrick on July 14th, 2009 at 8:02 pm #
  42. do u think we can still make reservations tomorrow for Saturday? :)

  47. @mei: You have to reserve tickets if you want to be sure that you get good seats. Weekend screenings tend to be crowded so usually the only seats left for those without reservations are the ones near the screen, which you wouldn’t want anyway.

    Patrick on July 13th, 2009 at 6:24 pm #
  48. is it required to reserve tickets? or we can buy there mismo sa SM MOA.we’re going to watch harry potter on July 19, do we nid to reserve ickets or buy much earlier dan july 19?

  49. @ijhey: Okay na yan. That’s even higher than the seats I got for Star Trek so that’s good. :)

@g: I actually also wanted to watch it on the evening screenings kasi maraming tao dun sigurado. But I can’t because of budget constraints. :-S

  50. thanks, i got J 14-17 seats,, ok lang ba yun? ubos na kasi lahat ng nasa K-N.. ayun…

  51. i was planning to watch it earlier than 4:40 pm, but we have school. sad :( .

thanks for the info anyway. :D

    g on July 12th, 2009 at 12:36 pm #
  52. For Mall of Asia, you can either call them to reserve or go to Mall of Asia personally to pay and claim your tickets at the same time. If you do reserve tickets by phone, you’d have to pay and claim them at MOA 3 days within reservation or before your screening date, whichever comes first.

And no, you can’t reserve tickets online. SM definitely needs their own sureseats.com thing. It’s best that you just go to MOA since you’ll have to claim the tickets anyway.

If you’re closer to SM North, this is the perfect time to try their new IMAX theater so make your reservations there instead. :D

    Patrick on July 11th, 2009 at 6:38 pm #

  57. Hi Patrick, nice info regarding HP 6 here, It’ll actually be my first time to be reserving seats for IMAX Mall of Asia. I’m planning to reserve for HP 6 and could you give me a round up of the process for reserving seats? Could it be simply done by phone?

Thanks in advance, I’m a newbie for this stuff. I wouldn’t want to be seated up front like you said.. :D

    Drew on July 7th, 2009 at 11:52 pm #
    • @Drew: You can call their numbers to reserve and you will be asked for the seats you want. You just have to pay the tickets, if I’m not mistaken, within 3 days of reservation or before your screening date, whichever comes first. I tried calling them to confirm but their lines are always busy. Meaning… maraming nagpapareserve! :D

I was browsing my wallet a while ago and found my Star Trek IMAX tickets. We were on row H. I advise you not to go any nearer than row G. I believe any row before that will make you turn your head from side to side while watching. This is for IMAX MOA by the way. ;)

      Patrick on July 8th, 2009 at 4:33 pm #
  58. Please Blog about why 3D movies (non IMAX exclusives) are not being shown in SM north’s D-CINEMA which is what its supposed to do, You can investigate it cause you live near the place hehehehe. We missed 2 cool movies “My Bloody Valentine 3D” and “ICE AGE 3 (3D)” we don’t want to miss “UP” which is also in 3D format. :D

    Anargeek77 on July 7th, 2009 at 8:12 pm #
    • I am not sure why they still have not shown those movies in their D-Cinema but right now, I’m thinking it’s mainly because of the huge demand for that robot flick.

On a slightly related note, Trinoma already opened their own digital 3D cinema. And their premiere offering is the new Ice Age film on 3D. Read more about it here: http://www.bworldonline.com/BW070709/content.php?id=161

      Patrick on July 7th, 2009 at 11:06 pm #
  59. Hey are you online? A friend of mine gave me tix to hp6 on cinema6, sm north. But it doesn’t have seat numbers. Does this mean it’s not reserved seating? A reply would be truly appreciated. Thanks!

    Del on July 7th, 2009 at 1:01 am #
    • As far as I know, the regular cinemas at SM North’s main building still don’t have reserved seating assignments. I think they call it “guaranteed seats” which means they just don’t sell more tickets than the cinema’s seating capacity. The newer cinemas at The Block I believe have seat numbers though.
