I figured I’d just write slice-of-life posts once in a while to cover those stuff which don’t really need to have its own article here. So what else have I been up to recently?
Harry Potter UNO card game
I thought I already lost this years ago but because we’re packing away stuff everyday for our home reconstruction, my mom accidentally found it tucked in one of our older shelves! I was literally jumping up and down when she gave it to me. Then I was worried there’d be missing cards so I began sorting through them. I breathed a huge sigh of relief after finding out that the set is still complete. Yay! The cards are obviously no longer in mint condition though.
Unfortunately, the instruction manual is now missing. It’s played like a normal UNO card game but with some special rules added. I bought this back in 2001 together with my Harry Potter Quidditch card game. I love both! I don’t know if they still sell this locally though. The Harry Potter UNO card game is now retailing for 99 dollars at Amazon.com which is insane as I remember buying this for less than 10 dollars (500 pesos) back then.
Disney & Pixar’s “Up”
This is one of the most well-reviewed movies this year so I had really high expectations for this. The movie’s good but I don’t think I like it as much as I liked Wall-E. Maybe it’s just me but I wasn’t able to connect with the story very much. I wasn’t really moved by all the supposedly dramatic scenes. I kinda blame the student crowd at Gateway cinema for ruining it.
My favorite character here is the young boy scout Russell who was really, really funny! I still rate this movie an 8.5 out of 10. (Thanks Jeff for the food and movie pass!)
A short film titled “Partly Cloudy” was shown before the movie. It’s really good! Watch it below.
Oh, and I was also reminded why non-digital theaters suck. We saw the movie in Gateway cinema 4. I think I’ve been spoiled by my subsequent IMAX viewings. I don’t even want to see movies anymore if it’s not in a digital theater or IMAX.
Books in a box
Our home is undergoing reconstruction right now so if you visit us you’d probably think we’re victims of some natural calamity with all the mess here. I thought that putting all my newer books just on top of a table would suffice but what a huge mistake that was. After just a couple of weeks, they’re all covered in dust and cement as if they’ve been there for ages.
Then I decided to put them in a huge plastic bag which proved to be another stupid idea because it ended up being so heavy that I couldn’t even move it around. Luckily, my mom found the box of our dearly beloved Epson printer. And I still can’t believe they all fitted inside that thing.
I hope to open that box again by next year so I can return all my precious books back to their rightful place: my small and humble shelf.
And lastly, I’m working on a new layout for this blog. Hoping to get it up by the second week of September. *crosses fingers*
