I thought I’d do this first before I get back to my irregular blogging routine just so I remind myself of what I hope to accomplish this year.
Writing things down is akin to setting something into stone in the old days. You feel more compelled to act on the things you’ve already done in writing. If that isn’t enough, have the whole world read it just like what I’m about to do now. I think that’s the problem with most new year resolutions made. If you don’t have anyone watching over you then it’s all too easy to be unmindful of your promises.
So I’m letting my resolutions and plans get known here. It took days for me to think up and finalize these plans and I certainly don’t want that time wasted. So let’s begin!
SYAORAN.net
- Have at least 2 new blog posts every week. I’ll allow myself to have breaks but these should not be longer than 2 weeks. And definitely no unannounced breaks.
- Have a time limit when writing blog posts. I sometimes spend so much time in just a single article. I have this perfectionist attitude which really needs to go this year.
And this is how the content here will be distributed:
50% – music, movies and TV shows that interest me
30% – technology-related (softwares, social media, wordpress, etc.)
15% – personal and slice-of-life posts
5% – random stuff
Pretty much the same thing as last year but I thought I’d just make it clear here. I initially wanted Technology to get the lion’s share of the content but then I remembered how much time it takes for me to write even a single post in this category. Pop culture posts are relatively easier for me so I can get one out in just a few hours. Plus, it’s just more fun to write!
The Bookish Pinoy
- Minimum of 1 blog post per week. It doesn’t always need to be a book review. (Thank God!)
- Have a time limit also when writing the book reviews. Just get it out there. If there are any errors, learn from it!
- My reading goal for this year is to read at least 2 books every month. I’ll probably make an exception if I have a huge project or something that urgently needs my undivided attention. Otherwise, my weekends will be my book reading days. I’m a slow reader so don’t think that two books a month is gonna be easy for me.
Non-Blogging Resolutions
- Every month, I’ll do something I’ve never done before. Preferably something challenging and uncharacteristic of me to do. I already have something in mind for January! Of course, I’ll blog about it after the deed is done.
- Buy new books sparingly! My To-Be-Read pile is even enough already to last me till December! I’ll try my best not to spend more than 1000 pesos each month for books.
- Go out more. Seriously, even if it just means going to the mall. I usually get great ideas when I am not at home. Plus, it would be good for my debilitating physique.
- Pray more! How many times more does He need to remind me that I need Him in my life? So yes, I will definitely try to talk to Him more this year. Spend more time in silence.
- Relax! Even with all these goals, I should not feel overwhelmed by them. Learn to trust more in Him. Stop overthinking and worrying too much. Have a “Do Nothing Day” once in a while. Life is great and God is good. ^_^
Just a short list this year. I only thought of the ones which are actually attainable. I think new year resolutions don’t have to be grand plans. It’s better that you promise less then there’s less pressure. You’ll also feel much better at the end of the year especially if you deliver more than what you actually resolved to do.
So, what are your resolutions for this 2010? I hope you haven’t given up on them yet. Remember, it’s never too late for change.
