The Lightning Thief – Movie Trailer, Wallpaper and Posters!

With just a month left before the premiere of the first Percy Jackson and the Olympians movie, let’s talk a look back at what we have so far.

Deviantart member =ashcro85 has kindly designed a wallpaper using one of the movie posters showing Percy wielding Zeus’ lightning bolt. As of this writing, the Lightning Thief movie official site doesn’t have any media downloads available yet. :(

Percy Jackson & The Lightning Thief – Swiss Movie Poster

This is my second favorite poster of the movie and just shows Percy having so much power over the ocean! Why? Read the books or watch the movie. And no, he’s not a waterbender if that’s what you were thinking. :P

Oh, and the movie will be called “Percy Jackson & The Lightning Thief” there. Kinda redundant if you ask me. Haha!

Percy Jackson – Character Poster

Coolness! I like the hoodie and the dangerously close shot of the trident though this doesn’t really happen in the book. Hehe! Wait, why do they make it seem like New York is getting swamped by a tsunami in this movie?

Annabeth Chase – Character Poster

After much deliberation, now I wish they had made her more like in the books. A blonde Annabeth donning a cap would have been so hot! This is one of those things that I fear would ruin my own imagined world of Percy Jackson much like what the Potter movies did to my “own” Potter world. *sigh*

Grover Underwood – Character Poster

Okay, now that the movie’s almost here I really feel like complaining about the book and movie differences. Grover isn’t black for crying out loud! *my nostrils palpitate*

How I wish they did a character poster for Luke also. I liked him in book 1 mainly because of his effect on Percy with regards to Annabeth. :P

Anyway, there’s way too many things happening on this video so I’ll probably just write another blog post discussing each frame of it. But all I can say about it for now is… WOAH!!!

Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief (long title, yeah) premieres in theaters in the U.S. on February 12, 2010. That’s a Friday and here in the Philippines it will most likely be released earlier on the Wednesday or it might even be on the Friday as well.

  4. The Percy Jackson 1st movie installment is quite really great! I am really excited with this new book series to movie adaptation. Gonna see this movie once it was released here in our place.

    but isn’t luke the lightning thief? so it’d be “percy jackson and luke castellan”? anyway… haha!

    they cropped the title for the movies, and made it more like HP, i guess. it is quite a mouthful, yeah.

    it is showing worldwide, or mostly, i guess, on 12 feb. they do that for certain ‘promising’ movies.

      As to who’s The Lightning Thief, well that depends on how you look at it. There’s the true thief and the accused thief. And those are two completely different characters. :D

    • Actually, I just saw the posters at SM and it seems they’ll be using “Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief” as the title. That’s redundant if you get what I mean. :wink:

  7. I so want to watch this movie na. I read the complete set already. I’m telling you people, you won’t regret reading/watching this. You’ll learn a lot about Greek Mythology. If you’re interested though. But in general, it really is good. Believe me.;;) BTW, sure na ba na Feb. 12 ang showing here in Philippines? I’m doubting kasi eh, kung mgkasabay ang opening ng PJO ng US at Phils. Diba sa ibang movies madalas ndi nmn mgksbay? So I was just wondering.
