Explore Davao - Part 3 : Skyriding
This is a continuation of the previous part because it still happened on the same day, June 8. We spent the rest of the day at Eden Nature Park & Resort. We got lost going there so unfortunately we were not able to catch the last group doing the Mountain Trail for the day. At least we got to do the Skyriding which in my opinion is better than trekking a 4-km trail.
These pictures were taken using my cameraphone. I didn’t expect we’d go there that day so I didn’t have my digicam with me. But even if I had brought it there, I can’t really take pictures while skyriding, can I? Wait, that would have been a great idea! I’m not sure if the instructor would allow it though…
So what I can say about the whole skyriding experience? Well… it was definitely one of the best things I’ve done here in Davao! Unknown to many, I’m really afraid of heights. When I found out what we were gonna do that day, I said NO to my boss without giving it a second thought. But then I also found out that I was the only one who wasn’t gonna do it. I didn’t want to be left out so I said YES anyway and I’m glad I did! (I wish I was this brave too when we were at the bar the night before. *sigh*)
Although the rope and everything are really sturdy, you can still get that feeling of flying seeing the trees below with the city and mountains in the horizon. I believe it was almost 10 storeys high! Or I might be just exaggerating because I’m not really good when it comes to measuring stuff…
Explore Davao - Part 3 (27 photos)
There are no pictures of me actually doing the skyriding there, unfortunately. My boss who had a Nikon DSLR (*drools*) took most of the pictures. I’ll update this post once I’ve gotten the pictures from him.
I also tried to update my blog using the WiFi in the restaurant there but for some reason, my login credentials were not being accepted. I have a feeling the PSP can’t support the blog’s authentication protocols. Whatever…
And to tell you the truth, that picture that looks like me eating durian is just an act. In reality, I couldn’t swallow it so I went out of the car and spit it out accidentally right in front of the fruit vendor’s stand. Thankfully they didn’t take it offensively but they simply laughed at me. That was truly embarrassing though but I’m really impressed how very warm and kind are DavaoeƱos to people who are not natively from there. I’ve been living here for 3 weeks and all the people we’ve met so far have been very nice to us.
I made this post automatically publish today, June 27 (Friday). That’s because this is my last day in Davao and I’m not sure if I’ll still be able to go to the office to publish this article. We’re leaving this Friday night. I’m not sure when I’ll return in Davao but I had a lot of memorable experiences staying here. You’ll see more in the upcoming updates of this ongoing series.
