I want to ____ this month. (November 2008)

Posted by Patrick on Nov 2, 2008 in Personal

Before I list what I want to accomplish this November, I’ll rate myself first based on how bad I did with my goals last month.

  1. learn Ruby on Rails - PASS (I’m now just learning the framework. It’s cool.)
  2. start reading a fiction book again every night - FAIL (Sadly, this is no longer a priority.)
  3. review Linux / Unix commands - FAIL (This should have been a piece of cake!)
  4. install Ubuntu on my desktop - FAIL (Files are not yet backed up.)
  5. meet up with a TPC seller to have my earphones fixed - FAIL (He did not answer my SMS.)
  6. get a new bank account and deposit a check - FAIL (It’s not as simple as it seems.)
  7. start ironing my own clothes - FAIL (Sorry Mom!) ;-(
  8. eat out less often to save money for Christmas - FAIL (McDonald’s sundaes are so yummy!)
  9. plurk less - PASS (My declining karma is a solid proof of this!)
  10. do more good - PASS?

What a report card! I didn’t just fail. I failed miserably! It’s like I didn’t even try, at all. So what’s the point of making another list when I couldn’t even carry out half of what I planned to do last month? Well all I can say is that - I believe there’s always a first time for everything. Failing has helped me realize the things which prevented me in achieving these goals. So this month, I am more determined to do better.

I want to …
… continue learning Ruby on Rails
… review Linux / Unix commands (for real!) …
… get my TIN card …
… really start ironing my own clothes …
… save money for Christmas by eating less at McDonalds (now that’s more specific) …
… get a nice gift for Mom’s birthday … :)
… and do even more good
… this November.

I’m trying to be more realistic this month by not having too many goals. I might even accomplish more than I initially planned to by having it this way. I might even be able to squeeze in there: write a review for the Twilight film… just kidding! :P
